Evangelos Moraitis

Evangelos Moraitis is a retired Captain of the Hellenic Navy and holds a postgraduate degree in weapon systems electronics.

His distinguished naval career includes service aboard warships and in various staff roles, notably at NATO’s Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE).

In 2019, he begun his journey into drone technology. By 2021, he became the first to introduce close-up ship inspections using drones to shipowners and members of the IACS in Greece. In 2023, in close collaboration with major IACS members and a drone manufacturer, he accomplished a global milestone - the world’s first ship thickness measurements (TM) performed with drones. In 2024, he further advanced this achievement by conducting the world’s first official class inspection and TM using drone technology.

He is a certified drone operator under the EASA Specific Category.
